Woori Yallock Farm School

We explored the topic of ‘water’. This began with a practical activity at our fish breeding ponds, where we removed excess leaves and debris, contributing to the units Support Ecosystem Restoration and Maintain the Workplace. We discussed the characteristics of healthy waterways and introduced the students to the concept of an environmental flow.

We continued with the theme of water by visiting the Wirra Willa rainforest. The students appreciated the beautiful surrounds while learning about the ways that rainforests filter water.

Finally, we stopped into the Maroondah Dam. The students were impressed by the scale of the dam wall. We discussed the role of dams in storing Melbourne’s water supply and the ways the water is distributed.
