Doctors in Schools Program

Yarra Hills Secondary College was one of 100 Victorian secondary schools selected to participate in the Doctors in Schools program. This program funds a GP and practice nurse to provide primary health care to Victorian secondary schools.

Yarra Hills has partnered with Mount Evelyn Medical Surgery for this initiative. Doctor Natalie Barton and practice nurse, Beck Wallis,  attend the school every Wednesday, and students are able to access the doctor or nurse by booking appointments via our Moodle portal.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • make primary health care more accessible to students
  • provide assistance to young people to identify and address any health problems early
  • reduce the pressure on working parents or families experiencing financial hardship.

Students and their parents/carers do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses for student consultations with the GP.
