Woori Yallock Farm School

We spent the day at the Farm School completing a variety of practical tasks relating to the Certificate 1 in Conservation and Ecosystem Management. The students started the day by completing the theory work relating to the unit ‘Support Nursery Work’, followed by some practical tasks in the nursery including potting up indigenous ‘Poa’ grasses, and tidying up the shade house.

Later in the morning, we visited the wetlands where the students contributed to the unit ‘Support Ecological Restoration’ by planting native sedges and ‘River Mint’. They planted tubestock, laid weed matting, and installed tree guards.

In the afternoon, we spent time clearing the paths around the old schoolhouse, which links to the unit ‘Maintain Cultural Places’. The students used hand tools to maintain the hedges and cleared the pathways of debris while demonstrating skills in ‘Working Safely’.
