Year 8 Languages – Food Tasting

On Thursday 16th at the Mount Evelyn campus & Friday 17th at the Mooroolbark campus, Year 8 Language students were given the opportunity to taste a range of different Italian & German foods. Prosciutto, sundried tomatoes, Lebkuchen and Italian olives were just some of the foods on our tasting platters.
Students had lots of fun trying new foods and tastes. The idea of Prosciutto (similar to ham) with Melone (cantaloupe) together seemed to go over everyone’s head at first. The salty taste of the prosciutto reacted with the sweetness of the cantaloupe and some students ended up really liking the flavour combo!
Enjoying the differences the Italian and German cultures have to offer in their traditions and foods was embraced by all, as students used a variety of ingredients to create yummy snacks with bread and oil.
